Not obsessed!

I told myself I'd never blog about the Twilight series but I just couldn't resist!

If you haven't heard about the Twilight books / movies...you must be from another planet. :)

The Husband and I saw the first movie, Twilight, with a group of friends (husbands included!) the first month it was out. Had never heard about the books or anything. Well, I liked the movie so one of our female friends suggested that I go ahead and buy the box set of books - that I "would end up reading them all anyway". (husbands rollings their eyes at this point).

So I did!
Read all 4 book in 5 days. Thank goodness the husband was on a business trip which allowed for some overnight reading. :)
Loved the books more than the movie!
I highly suggest anyone getting into the movies to read the rest of the books before the last 2 movies come out - you'll appreciate having the back-story on all the characters.

I've always been an avid reader and like to see books brought to the big screen.

Recently we saw "The Lovely Bones" - based on the book by Alice Sebold. I read this about 4 years ago and really enjoyed it but had heard the movie wasn't as good. But it was!

Also read the "Nanny Diaries", a good book, but wasn't interested in seeing the movie because I'm not a big fan of Scarlett Johansson.

Bought "Where the Wild Things Are" for Little Man because he liked the book but I thought the movie was weird and a little to old, content wise for him.

Love Love the Harry Potter movie series! Little Man has seen all of them and I plan on buying the series of books for him for when he starts reading.

Also recommend the books by Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, For One More Day)- with a value size box of tissues. We've seen the movie adaptation of Tuesdays with Morrie and For One More Day....really good tear-jerkers!

But I'm not an obsessed Twilighter! I don't plan on going to opening night of the movie! I'm not getting tickets to the marathon showing of all 3 movies!
Although I did ask The Husband to grab a Twilight collectors cup with root-beer from Burger King for me last year...amazingly enough he did! :)

With the new movie, Eclipse, coming out next week, Little Man and I decided to stop by BK to see what "toys" they were offering with their value meals. He got the kids meal with the boys toy - Edward's wristband with the magically appearing Cullen Crest and I got the kids meal with the girls toy - Bella's bracelet with the charms from Jacob and Edward, which was quickly confiscated by Little Man.

It was funny, Little Man asked how the wristband changes him into a wolf and I had to explain that the wristband was Edward's and only Jacob could turn into a wolf in the movie. He looked disappointed. Obviously I have a 3 year old son who is Team Jacob. Probably because they look like giant dogs. :D

But no...I'm not obsessed....really, I'm not...

Sleeping with Buzz and Woody!

The Husband and I thought about buying Little Man a "Big Boy" bed (full size) but he told us that he wasn't ready and wanted to stay in his toddler bed. So...I thought he should have a decent bedding set. Up til now he's only had a small pillow and a blanket that he usually rolls out from under while sleeping.

During a recent shopping trip to Target I found some toddler bedding sets! And everything was on sale! Even better! They had some with trucks, some with robots but when I saw the Toy Story set, it was a no brainer. We know it's something he'll outgrow soon but he loves it and we can always get him something more grown up when we finally get that Big Boy bed.

It's so cute the way he sits on his bed and pretends that Buzz and Woody are having a conversation with Pooh, Big Tigger, Llama and Puppy. :)

Proper....or not so proper!

When Little Man was very small, The Husband and I agreed that when it came time to discuss the names of body parts, we would use the proper names.

So Little Man knows the difference between men having "manly chests" and women having "boobies" (I know, we could have gone with breasts but this seemed to work out fine).

WELL! Today we were cruising the racks in Target and suddenly...

Little Man: "You have boobies!"

Me: "Yes I do, shhhhh".
(Was always told not to make a big deal out of something they say or they would keep repeating it.)

Little Man: "L's Mom has boobies too!"

(Lady at the next rack snickering at the exchange at this point)

Me: (((sigh))) "Yes, all Mommies have boobies."

Little Man: "I have a manly chest!" "Like Daddy!"

Me: (((smiling at that one))) "Yes honey, you do have a manly chest like Daddy."

I thought we had finished the discussion about "boobies" but then we hit the lingerie department and Little Man points and says, "Booby backpacks!"

Needless to say, I made a bee-line for the checkout lines!

Ahhhh, the conversations we have to look forward to in the years to come. :)

Famous (and not so famous) Quotes Friday.

“A smile starts on the lips, A grin spreads to the eyes,
A chuckle comes from the belly;
But a good laugh bursts forth from the soul, Overflows, and bubbles all around”

Happy Mother's Day! and memories.....

Happy Mother's Day
to all the Mom's in our family!!!
We love you!!!

Today was great! We went to church where they had the Baby Dedications...great for a laugh, the babies reactions to Pastor Kerry were pretty funny.
Then off to lunch at Tommy Bahamas - one of my favorite restaurants!
And then watched Little Man go on a double bungee cord kind of ride they had set up in Market Street.
They hook you up in a harness, pull you down and let go so you go flying up in the air! Up and down, up and down! The boy loved it! He was the first one to go but once all the kids saw him flying through the air, they had to try it too! It really was pretty hilarious seeing a 3 year old flying through the air and he was fearless!
Caught some video on my phone but it died before I could save it and send to my email. Grrrrr!
Then on the way home we stopped at TCBY for my FREE Mother's Day Frozen Yogurt Treat! Yeah! White Chocolate Mousse w/Heath Bar crumbles rocks! Mmmmm. Nummy!

and memories...
I've been a real "bawl bag" this week...hormones or something I guess...but...I've had a lot on my mind. So many changes over the years...even just in the last year.

Thinking about mom's and found this picture
of my mom, her mom/my late grandma and myself. Summer of 1996.
I think it's the only picture we have of the 3 generations.
Grandma passed away a few years back...she was 102!
What a great person!

Was going through Little Man's 6-12 mo clothes for his new cousin.
Had to take a picture to show how much he's grown....and immediately got weepy. :(

My late cat, Katie.
We had to put her to sleep a year ago this week and it still feels like it was yesterday.
Princess Poo we miss you!

And of course my impending 41st Birthday!
What The H - E - Double hockey sticks!!!
I JUST turned 40! What happened to the last year?!?!?!

I guess it's true, the older you get the faster the years go by.
Well I think that just sucks!

But on a lighter note! Little Man has started swim lessons! And he's Soooo excited! hee hee

This is what he thought of the instructor asking him to put his face in the water and blow bubbles. :D
"I don't think so..."

This may be how we spend the summer...chillin' by the pool and having a snack during safety break. Ahhhh.

Happy Anniversary!!!

Saturday, The Husband and I celebrated our 8 year Wedding Anniversary! We were able to get our sitter for an overnight stay with Little Man so we booked a room, had some sushi and just relaxed and reminisced about our lives together. We missed Little Man but it was SO NICE getting to sleep in until 7 A.M. :)

Random Phone Pics...

I decided to forward some of the pictures I've taken with my phone to my computer before deleting...in case I wanted to post them to "THE BLOG". Here are a few...

Little Man and his new friend!

Why would a kid need a giant giraffe? I'm just sayin'.

Little Man eating his Birthday Dessert at PF Changs!
The Great Wall of Chocolate (mini version).

I swear he downed it in 2 seconds flat! Probably thought he should eat it all before The Husband and I came to our senses. Hyping our kid up on chocolate before taking him home for bedtime...WHAT were we thinking! :D
But it was his Birthday so...

Breakfast with Mom & Dad at Rise n Dine!
Blackberry Jam Face.
Poor kid looks like he's still asleep!

Little Man and Miss A (hugging Big Bird) at some Kid Fest thing at Market Street.
Love these type of events! Lots of free stuff, petting zoos & face painting!

This is as close as he would get to "the Bird"...still a little leery of people dressed up as giant animals. Can't blame him! I still think clowns are a little creepy! ;D

The Mall Carousel...it's a wonderful thing!
