It's gettin' hot in heeere!

Today was my first day to try Bikram Yoga!  Yay! semi sarcastic yay.  I recently lost 10 pounds and needed to start working out to tone up.  Thank goodness I found LivingSocial coupon for 20 sessions because those classes are crazy expensive!

Sunday I had texted my old running partner Mary-Kate for tips cause shes all into this hot yoga stuff.  Her tips:  Get and stay very hydrated, don't go on a full stomach and don't wear cotton because it will weigh you down.  Got it!

Arrive at 9:10am.  Class doesn't start until 9:30 so I finish up some emails and then go in because I'm sure they have to explain "the process" to me.  Cat chillin' on the counter is cute...comes over for some head scratches and then licks my fingers... dang he has some HUGE FANGS!

Perky girl behind the counter: Hi!  Are you new?!  Have you taken a Bee-Krim (thats how it sounded to me!) class before?  Well, this is what they do.....mwah, mwah mwah mwah mwah. (think Charlie Browns Teacher).  Ready?!

Me: Sure!

Drop off flip flops, bag & phone at my cubbie and proceed into the oven early.  Hey, I figured if I went in early, I'd get acclimated to the heat.....yehhhhh.

People start filing in, setting up their mats, towels and water close at hand.  Some stretching, some sitting up in an OM position, possibly meditating and others lying on their backs like they're taking a nap.  Good idea!

I lie down because thats what the girl next to me is doing and shes fit and seems to have done this before.

Our instructor comes in...very fit younger girl with a belly piercing (washboard abs mind you) and says, "I see we have a new person in our class!"

-Groan-  I selected a spot at the back of the class so I could blend in!  Now everyone will be stealing a peek at me now and again throughout class to see how the newbie is doing.  Grrr

She explains some of the different breathing (sounds like a bad porno...not that I know what that sounds like!  Just a guess....) and the different phases of class and when we can take a water break.

So we begin with our standing poses and I'm doing okay!  But then the heat sets in and I swear I'm right under a freaking vent.  Gah!

Picture 1 is the list of poses we did in class:

Picture 2 is how I felt until the floor work.  A couple of times I was sure SOMETHING was going to come out although not sure which end. Eeeek!  During the 5th standing pose the heat was REALLY getting to me and the instructor must have seen the "I'm gonna hurl" look on my face because she came over and whispered, "you can take a knee if you need to".  I took a knee, then 2 knees, then my butt on the floor, back up standing, bent over with hands on the knees and then talked myself down from totally blowing chunks...because you know, vomiting in a super hot room has got to be worse than vomiting in any other situation.  But by the time we get to the floor work, I'm feeling much better.

     ME

When class was over, a really nice girl named Jennifer came over and offered congratulations!  :D  Chatted about running and yoga and stuff.  Then the instructor stopped by said I did really well!  Her first time she had to leave the room to go throw up and then went back in to finish the class.  Also, the first class is ALWAYS the hardest because you really don't know what to expect.

I have a competitive streak...especially with myself so leaving the room wasn't an option and I wasn't about to puke in front of total strangers!  :D  I'm a toughie!

Looking forward to finishing my remaining 19 sessions!

2013 Swiss Avenue Historic Distric Mother's Day Home Tour

Anyone who knows me well knows that I LOVE historic homes and vintage cars.  The Hubs scored some tickets to the Swiss Ave Historic Home Tour and I was so excited!!!  (notice the three exclamation points!)

While I would have liked to have taken pictures inside the homes, it just felt weird and intrusive so I didn't. :(

But!  Some had vintage cars parked in their driveways so I had LM pose for pics.  He thought they were pretty cool too!

They had schmancy air conditioned buses to take you to each house but you could walk it if you are in shape or not carting around littles.  Also, the food booths, bouncy castle and live music were awesome!

This is an annual tour so make sure you catch it next year if you live in the Dallas area! http://www.sahd.org/

They also do a Candlelight Tour & Party for the 18 and older crowd.

Car Ride Convo with Little Man

I swear, when LM and I talk in the car...its so educational!  Enlightening!

LM:  I wish we were made with 4 arms.

ME:  Why? What would you do with 4 arms?

LM:  Well, you could do stuff faster.

ME:  Like what?

LM:  One hand would hold the t.v. remote, the other hand would hold a bazooka so I could blow up the screen if I didn't like what was on t.v. and in the other hand I'd have my snack.

ME:  Well, that 3 hands, what do you have in your 4th hand?

LM:  My cup! (in a tone that suggests that he can't believe that I didn't already know this)

ME:  Right! So you have the remote, your bazooka, your snack and your drink!  Thats great!  You have everything covered!

LM:  Yeah!  (again, in "the tone")

:D

Playtime with Little Man

LM wanted to show me how his Darth Maul action figure decapitated Palpatine.  Nice.....

He then goes on to play with Darth Maul and this is what comes out of my sweet angel's mouth (in a ganster voice):

LM:  Step 1 - Darth Maul takes off his shirt.

Step 2 - He shows off his tattoos!

Step 3 - He gets lady chicks!

Step 4 - He gets their numbers.  Oh yeah!

ME:  LM.....you.are.a.trip.

Another Convo with Little Man.....and Henry:

Little Man and I were drivng Henry to the Bark Park Dog Park so he could run around and play.  LM insisted on Henry being in the back seat with him but the dog REALLY has out grown his lap so I knew it was a matter of time before I heard......

LM:  Henry stepped on my Nu Nus!  (Nu Nus means his crotch).

Me:  You don’t have Nu Nus yet.  You just have a sack.  (I know...but Daddy started it last year!!!)

LM:  Well, I have a sack and I can feel the nuts in there, so I have a sack of nuts.  (Daddy gets credit for the "nuts" term after being accidentally hit in the nuts by LM and announcing, "Dang it, you just nailed Daddy in the nuts!")

Me:  ((laughing)) Ok, Ok.....

LM:  Henry has a sack!

Me:  Nope, the vet took out his nu nus and his sack shriveled up.

LM:  Why did the vet take his nuts?

Me:  So he couldn’t make puppies.

LM:  Well...What did they look like?

Me:  I dunno.  Raisins or acorns or something...not sure.

LM:  Well, if someone cut open one of his nuts, there may be a puppy in there.

Me:  No, the mommy is the one that grows the puppy, the daddy’s have....uh, fertilizer to help the puppy grow.  (not sure about the wisdom on that one)

LM:  So, I have fertilizer but Henry doesn’t have fertilizer anymore.

Me:  Ummm, yeh......pretty much.

LM:  So when you and Daddy go on dates, he has fertilizer to help make babies grow?

Me:  ((PANIC ATTACK!!!))  Ummmmmm.  Hey!  Look at that giant water tower!

LM:  Ooooooh!

So glad he's easily distracted!

Needless to say, the Husband was like, "Fertilizer?!"  And I was like, "You told him he had a sack but no nuts!"

...heavy sigh.............

#3 is out!

We tried to "shoot it out" with the nerf dart gun like the last 2 but it was one stubborn tooth!  It has been loose for quite a while but just didn't want to come out.  LM kept fiddling with it while watching t.v. and he suddenly grabbed my arm and said "thook"!  He was holding a bloody tooth. EW!  So off to the bathroom we went to clean and prep the tooth for the Tooth Fairy. :)
