Happy Birthday Henry!

I'm 4 years old!

Several years after losing our 2 beloved cats, Katie & Gordon, we were ready to welcome a new furry family member into our lives.  Little Man is allergic to cats so we needed to find a dog that would be a good fit with our family.  I did one of those online tests that show what breed would be best for your family based on your lifestyle, personalities, etc.  Our results showed that a terrier WAS NOT one of them.  This test did not take mixed breeds into account.  :/

A few years ago, when we lived in Tulsa, OK, I went to a A.R.F. of Tulsa (Animal Rescue Foundation) adoption event with the intent of doing my paperwork so I could volunteer.  I was not going to look at the dogs up for adoption that day.  But there he was.  I saw one of the girls holding him and it was love at first sight. And yes, he is a schnauzer mix.  Yes, a terrier.

Henry's Mom and Dad had been picked up as strays but when they realized the female was pregnant, the shelter called ARF to see if they could help.  ARF took them out of the shelter and kept them at a foster home until she had the litter and they were weaned and ready for adoption.  Mom and Dad were adopted first and they knew the puppies soon would be too.

Once the pups were ready, ARF took pictures and had them listed online and at the PetSmart / ARF of Tulsa adoption event.

I think there were 2 more pups but they were adopted before I could get pictures of them.  Henry was the only boy and the only black pup in the litter.  He's special! :)

Little Man went with me to meet Henry and loved him!  3 days later we took him home.

Loves car rides

Wrestling with LM

We entered a doggie contest.
He really didn't win anything since he wouldn't do his tricks (stage fright) so they gave him
a certificate that read, "Blackest Dog". :D

Henry did not find dog clothes amusing.
Go Sooners!

Getting bigger and still wanting to sit on laps

Love to feel the wind in my fur!

Henry is at the groomers for "spa day" and then lots of love and a car ride to the store for a new toy.

Happy Birthday Henry!

Lookin' a little bit like summer!

Today's high was in the 80's and tomorrows forecast is the same!  Yay!

We have the pool cleaned and ready to go, Little Man's basketball hoop for the pool is up and ready and his inflatable turtle is inflated and parked on our patio table.  This guy is huge!

Flower pots are filled with lemon grass, mint and marigolds which are supposed to repel mosquitoes.  (Insert doubtful face here.)  But we do have something that burns citronella oil as a backup.  And I've heard that pinon smoke keeps them away as well so we may need to fire up the chiminea too.
Big thanks to my friend Cincy who traded me some clay pots and mint plants she had for some things I was letting go.  Gracias!

Plants are sprouting and blooming.  A lot of which I don't know the names of but I don't "think" they're weeds so I haven't pulled them.

The butterflies and bees are out in abundance.

The bunnies had babies under the deck in our side yard.  So cute to see them hanging out in the backyard in the evening but they make Henry lose his mind! :D  I had to have another talk with him.  Bunnies are friends not food.  Yeh...he just looks at me like I've lost my mind! :D

And the lizards are making a comeback!  I was worried about them because we completely cleaned out all the overgrowth in the backyard to start over with new landscape.  Thought we destroyed their habitat and ran them off.  But they're back and giving me the "stink eye" for taking their picture. :)

Looking forward to spending a lot of time in our backyard this summer!

The Last Window! Yea!

Little Man's bathroom window was the last one on our list to replace.  Finally!  Install was uneventful and they completed it in just over an hour.

This is what his little window looked like when we bought the house, just over 3 years ago.  It was a crank out window that didn't open, was drafty and just didn't do anything for the front of the house.

It looks better already!

Up close look at the new window.
It cranks out, has a screen on the inside and is energy efficient!

Much better!

The sun came out later in the day so I snapped a quick pic.
The front of the house is really coming along!

Now for the trim paint (Sherwin Williams sale April 22nd), another red Japanese maple for the left side (Earth Day sale April 21st) and some flowers.
Then we need to power wash everything, replace some sprinkler heads, re-stain the fence, back fill some dirt around the back of the swimming pool, plant some drought tolerant ornamental grasses and maybe some up lighting on the trees by the pool.

And that is just the outside.  We have a whole separate list for the inside of the house.

Ahhhh.  The joys of home ownership.

PCE School Fundraiser - Caddyshack Par-Tee!

Friday Night was our son's Annual Spring Fundraiser Party
(Parents only of course).
This years theme was Caddyshack (or golf attire).

They kicked things off with an online auction a couple of days before the party...then have more silent auction items there.  I REALLY wanted the tricked out golf cart (blue-tooth, hidden cooler in the back and street legal) but at $50 a pop, we only bought 2 tickets.  We did win the "Principal for a Day" for J-Man. :D  He is so excited!

Its been a while since we've seen the movie so I picked it up at the local library..for research.  We forgot just how racy it was because J-Man was watching it with us...to see the gopher, when BOOM!  Adult Situations!  BOOM! Nudity!  :/ cringe  :/   Needless to say, we had him leave the room and fast forwarded to the end where Bill Murray blows up the golf course trying to kill the gopher.  J-Man thought that was pretty funny.

Here are some of the pics we were using for costume ideas.

Chevy Chase was a good inspiration.
One guy dressed as "Danny", the caddie.

Everyone remembers Lacey Underall!
(notice, no bra!  Gasp!)
Uh, no.  I'm a mom, and modest, and even though this was an adults only party, Yeh no.  I mean...the school Principal was there for goodness sake!

Rodney Dangerfield
A guy actually wore this!  It was great!

Bill Murray - I would have loved to have worn this!
I had everything to make it but...I'm not a dude.

A guy had this hat on!  So funny!

And another guy had this costume on.  Classic!

Other than the hat and purse, there was a mom that wore something pretty close to this. Don't get me wrong, she looked great!  But...

Most of the moms looked like this (below) or some variation of it.

And here we are!

My husband John (on the left) with Mike, who was clever enough to have a golf club flask!

Our friends Deirdre and Mike
They looked great!

John and I
I had bought a visor to wear but it was HUGE!
So basically a golf skirt, polo shirt, pom pom footie socks and of course pearls

Me and Deirdre

DJ P Love was awesome!  He played Brickhouse for us ;) and lots of 80's music mixed with current stuff.  And of course we ALL did the Whip and Nae Nae...cause we're cool like our kids. :D

J-Mans Favorite Things Birthday

Little Man (LM) had 4 of his friends over for a Birthday Sleepover.   Activities included Nerf Battle, Corn Hole (bean bag toss), Video Games, watching Star Wars Battlefront (the new movie) and playing Monopoly. They also jumped in the pool when it started raining but it was SO COLD!  :D

The Crew!
H, O, P, LM and R

Can I just say how much I LOVE Dollar Tree!  I mean, I really LOVE that store!  Found the army helmets, sunglasses, flashlights, glowsticks and tableware there.

Also found a tip on Pinterest about using carpentry aprons to hold the "ammo".  She bought hers at Lowes but I found mine cheaper at  Home Depot!  Score!  :D

H, O and P
Planning their attack on R and LM

H and P running in for the attack while the Hubs held up the "fort".
It was breezy and my boxes didn't want to stay up. :/

Then of course everyone ran out of Nerf darts so you had to walk around and find them if you wanted another battle.

Corn Hole!

We had 2 TVs going. Wii U and Xbox One.
Scribblenauts, MarioKart 8, Star Wars Battlefront and Minecraft.

LM trying to act all "Gangster"

O, LM in the back, H and P on the right

See Food!

Monopoly

After watching Star Wars, playing Monopoly and doing shawdow puppets on the ceiling with their flashlights, the boys finally fell asleep around midnight.  I of course passed out soon after.

I thought for sure they would be up REALLY early but they slept in until 7am!  Yay!  After pancakes and bacon and some video games, everyone was picked up by 9am.  Bless P's mom, Deirdre, for bringing me coffee!  Helped me wake up when I thought for sure I'd crash after everyone left. :D

Man!  What a crazy day but so much fun!  J-Man has such a great group of friends and it was wonderful having them together to celebrate his Birthday.

Sunday, Little Man and I ran errands.  He found this Emoji pillow at Walmart and said, "Look Mom!  I have poop on my head!"  Ha ha ha ha  "Can we get it?"  "I can sleep on my poop!" Ha ha ha ha.  Me: "No".  Although I did think it was funny, a pile of poop was not my idea of smart accent pillow for his room.  Bleh.

My Birthday is coming up next month...I think I'll ask the Hubs for a new camera.  My phone iPhone 4s takes better pics than my Canon! Must be a pixel thing.
