Little Man has been asking to go play Paintball for a while and today was the day!  We met up with his friends "R" and "L" at GatSplat for some fun!

LM, L and R geared up and ready to go!

LM making his move!

The staff was so nice to give the boys free dog tags with their name / nickname on them.
LM says " J Dawg"  :)

Shot in the face!

This is R being recorded by his mom who happend to catch me right after I was hit by a random paintball.
It REALLY hurt!

Halloween!

Thought I would post now before the crazy countdown to Halloween.  We're having a couple of LM's friends over to go Trick-or-Treating on Saturday and I'm scrambling to get the food/drinks/decor ready…and not have it all wrecked by more rain that is expected on Friday and Saturday.  Ergh!

Tigger - 6 Months

Dr. J - 18 months

Cyndi Lauper & 80's Wrapper
(Hubs looks great!)

Cowboy - 2 years

Obi-Wan Kenobi - 3 years

Han Solo, Princess Leia & Darth Vader - 4 years Old
Check out the custom made holster on Han Solo!

Catwoman, Dr. Jonathan Crane aka Scarecrow
& Batman - 5 years Old

The G.I Joes & Snake Eyes - 6 years old

Peter Quill aka Star Lord - 7 years old

Had to add an extra pic.  See the "Walkman"?  I searched for an original right after the movie came out and they were selling on eBay for $400.  Thats crazy!  We found the specs online for the original and made one out of cardboard.

Then found some orange earphone covers at Dollar Tree…score! Love that store.  LMs iPod slips inside and what do you think is on his playlist?  Oh yea, the Awesome Mix Tape #1 from the movie of course!

Halloween Group Pic for this year.

LM is front row right end.
Halo Commander..minus his mask.
Ran around all night and didn't get a good picture. But this was at the end of the night with some trick-or-treating friends.

Hope you all have a safe and fun filled Halloween!

Just A Flesh Wound!

When the Hubs is away on business, I get a wild hair for random projects.  And I don't mean I go down a to-do list of things.  I start on one and suddenly see something else that needs work and jump to that project….kinda like SQUIRREL!  Must have adult ADHD. :/

Today was no exception…

We are expecting A LOT of rain over the next couple of days so I thought I'd bring in some of my outdoor Halloween decor.  Sure its made to be outside…but who are we kidding.  Every year I decorate on Oct. 1st and the weekend before Halloween, everything gets trashed by rainstorms! Every.year.

So, I start winding up lights and retrieving my fuzzy spiders (love them!) and I notice the 3 Liriope plants I need to switch out with healthy full ones because our lawn service mowed over them (mentally cussing them) so I get out my shovel, the replacement plants, etc.  Like I said, SQUIRREL!  I actually finished that project and they look great!  Then I notice that the gutter down spout extensions need to be adjusted because of the rain we're "supposed" to get…again...SQUIRREL!  While I'm digging a mini trench to divert the water out to the yard away from the house, I notice rocks that need to be shifted around to help divert the water into said trenching…SQUIRREL!  So I start moving rocks. BIG ones. At this point my Hubs would be saying, "Stop doing that!  They're too heavy!"  And my reply would be, "Pssh!  I can do it!"  So move them I did...and then it happened.

I squished/cut/mashed/maimed my pinky finger on my left hand!

Blood spurted out and started running down my hand.  Pretty spectacular if I say so myself!  Then I was like, "Oh crap!  I need to do something!"  So I pinched my hand just at the base of that finger and raised it above my head and started to go inside to find the location of a minor emergency clinic to get stitches.  But then I thought, "I can't leave out my shovel and stuff…someone will take them!"  SQUIRREL!

So there I was trying to keep pressure on the hand, elevate it and carry a shovel, bucket and trash bag to the backyard!

I finally make it inside and wash it off..hmmm, maybe not too bad but hurts like a SOB!  Pour hydrogen peroxide on it…SOB that hurts!!! Then I get nauseous!  I never get queasy over blood!  WTH!  After a few minutes of sitting down with my head between my knees (wuss, I know)  I hop on the computer to to try and find the nearest minor emergency center that does stitches.  Minute Clinics at CVS do not by the way.

Wasn't positive that I needed stitches but didn't want to not go and have it get infected and fall off.  But didn't want to get charged just to have them slap a band-aid on me either.    My friend "L" just happened to see my FB post.  Yes, I had time to post an inquiry about where to find a minor emergency center.  Don't judge me!  She was out walking with the kids in a stroller and offered to stop by and give me a second opinion.

She rolled up, took one look at it and said, "You don't need stitches!"  She has 5 kids, she would know.  So we chatted some more before she took off for home and I went inside to double check "the wound".  Looked better so I took some Advil, squirted some Neosporin (with pain reliever) on it and slapped on a band-aid and called it good.  Hubs happened to call so I relayed the whole "ordeal" of it to him and he said, "Oh, so you're o.k?  Good!  Well gotta go, talk to you later."  Mmmph.

No loss of finger. Projects completed before the "incident". And now know where to take anyone for stitches, flesh wounds, etc.
Pretty productive day if I do say so myself!

Warning!  Following are graphic photos (not necessarily of me) to show what I'm talking about.

This is what it looked like when it first happened!
*not really my finger but found one similar to it.
I should have taken a picture of mine!

This is what it felt like after pouring hydrogen peroxide on it!

This is probably what my husband thinks it looked like.

This is the real deal seeping through the band-aid.
Seeping is kinda a gross word don't you think?!

This is the cut that caused all the drama today.
Looks pretty minor right?  Now scroll up to pic #1. :D

This typing doesn't seem to be helping.  Probably time for another Advil.  And a well earned beer.  And some Halloween candy.  Wonder if I can talk the boy into giving me a foot rub?

Hope you all had a wonderful and incident free day!
Stay safe my friends!

Coffee-holic

14 things only people with a serious coffee addiction understand:

1.  Before you've had at least one cup of coffee, your family—and anything they say—does not exist.

2.  You will run into a burning building for your iced coffee. Which seems redundant in hindsight

3.  One-cup mornings don't exist.

4.  First-java-of-the-day-at-Starbucks is for posers. If you can get dressed and out the door without coffee, you probably don't really need it.

5.  That sweet, sweet moment when you take your first sip of iced coffee for the spring/summer season.

6.  You are honored when the Starbucks barista spells your name correctly… because it means you go there every single day.

7.  When you visit your mom and she has nothing but decaf in the house, you start plotting ways to "step out for a little while."

8.  Instant coffee = hot water that someone's waved a brown crayon over.

9.  When you make coffee at work, you need three of those little pods to one cup of water.

10.  Coffee should be like the ideal man: Tall, dark, hot, strong, and tasty. Also full of energy and smells amazing. (The only big difference is that it should make you get out of bed rather than want to get back in it.)

11.  Instant coffee is like a crappy stale doughnut with no frosting. Unless you're desperate, why bother?

12.  Decaf is for wusses. Also, it makes no sense. Why is this even a thing?

13.  If Heaven has a smell, it might be coffee.

14.  A third or fourth cup of coffee today is totally normal. Anyone who thinks otherwise can keep their opinions to themselves.

First Day of 3rd Grade

First Day of 3rd Grade!!!  Its so funny, you can see the progression of disappointment on his face with each picture.  Ha!

More Summer Pics!

Found a few more pics that I didn't post!

Hubs forgot to take a picture of LM and myself Kayaking in California.  Luckily someone else snapped this pic!  My B-I-L and nephew J are on the left and LM and I are on the right.  Stylish pink helmet huh! :)

LM - Pine Cove Camp in The City
His counselor, "Wasbi Lobby" presenting him with his "Certificate of Recognition".  It reads, "Awarded to LM for outstanding character qualities displayed during the summer of 2015.  "LM is confident, seen in his willingness to express himself.  He is eager, ready to take on challenges.  LM is faithful, constant in his thoughts and beliefs."

LM's first sleepover at our house!  So excited!
His buddies P (on the left) and R (on the right).
After swimming, a Nerf gun battle and watching "G-Force", they finally all fell asleep around 11pm.
