Spring has Sprung!

Here in North Dallas, Spring has Sprung!  Well…its in the 80's this week which is more like summer but a cool front is coming through tonight to get things back to "normal".

Henry was ready for his "summer cut" after the warm weekend.  Here he is modeling his Easter bandanna!  So handsome!

This is a dog who refused to wear the OU jersey we bought him as a puppy! (No jokes from my OSU and Texas friends!)

I tried to take the bandanna off of him last night at bedtime and he snatched it back!  Ha!

Our backyard has a few blooms and the lizards are out running around.  The bunnies are collecting fresh grass for their boroughs too….glad they are behind the pool fence where Henry can't get to them.

Gerber Daisy

My Mom thinks this might be a flowering quince?
Flowering Almond bush???  I have no clue.
Let me know if you know what it is!

Vinca

Peonies!
Should be blooming by Mother's Day!

So glad its finally warming up and I can pull out the flip flops!  Need to get my butt to the salon for a much needed pedi!  Eek!  :D

School Open House

Little Man's school had their open house last week and we were able to see his projects that included a PowerPoint presentation about some of the deserts in the world and a pottery project in art class.

The class drew themselves and the figures were sitting at their desks when we came in.
I guess LM was wearing his Harp Design Co t-shirt from our Waco trip when they made them.  :D

The kids had to write a report about a famous person, dress up as that person and read their report in front of the class.

LMs was Harry Houdini!

I think he looks like a insane asylum escapee!  Ha!

Spring Break 2015

We have a family vacation coming up this summer so we had a "stay-cation" for Spring Break.  Sleeping in, working on the house, relaxing at home, eating out and a road trip!

Little Man thought the Chef at Benihana was so cool with his "tricks".
Rootbeer and pizza at the Pub.

I don't know about anyone else but we love to watch HGTV.  Rehab Addict, Property Brothers and Fixer Upper are our favorites.  We were happy to learn that Fixer Upper is based out of Waco, TX…just down the road from us!  So we made the trip to visit their store, the woodworking shop of their friend Clint Harp of Harp Design Co and shop some antique stores in the area.

First visit was to Common Grounds coffee shop on the edge of the Baylor University campus.  The couple that own it were featured on the Fixer Upper show and we're always up for trying new coffee shops!

"Magnolia" is Joanna's shop for home decor.  Smaller shop than we expected but cute stuff!
Harp Design Co (shop is out of frame to the left).  See that house in the background?  That is the Harp family's house that the Gaines' did for them…I think one of the first episodes that aired.  So cool!

We also shopped at two antique stores…one named Junque in the Trunk!  Ha!  Finally found a piece to hang on our fireplace wall that has been blank for 2 years!  I could walk around those places for hours = heaven.

Funny Randomness…we were wandering around Whole Foods after eating breakfast one morning and stumbled upon this product..brilliant marketing if you ask me!  I'm still giggling about it!  :D

If you can't read the label, its called "Healthy Hoo Hoo - Feminine Wash".
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!  Love it!

Stuffs

The weather here in TX has been crazy!
Not the ice storm / no electricity craziness of last year but 3 snow days of no school kind of crazy this year.

Snow accumulation in our backyard.

LM was loving it!  :)

We had a weekend off from basketball and the weather has been improving...so we hit Home Depot for their kids build.  Little Man's new friend, "Ro" and his mom met up with us for building and coffee for the moms after.  ;)

Check out our bookends!

Taking a "selfie". :)

One of LMs favorite places to eat is Freebirds.  Can anyone tell me how in the world a kid and gets sauce on the bridge of their nose while eating a burrito?!  LOL

All sauced up…wait, that sounded weird! Ha!
Covered in sauce!

Basketball Playoffs!

The Panthers made it to the playoffs!  Although we didn't win our playoff game,   :(  we're going back out this afternoon to support the other PC Team "The Dirks" who won their playoff game right before ours.  So proud of all the boys and looking forward to watching their friends play this afternoon.

LM front and center!

UPDATE!!  The Dirks won their game (against the team that beat us-boo yah!) and now they play tonight, Sunday at 7pm.  We won't be there to watch but are hoping they win the final game!  Good luck Dirks!

Here is some video from the game we saw…you can hear us yelling about the clock because the opposing team was in charge of starting and stopping it (which made NO SENSE to me) and would "forget" to stop the clock until it came down to the Dirks being ahead by 1 point…then they "forgot" to start the clock. Hmmmmm.  They still kicked their butts anyway. ;)

Action!

The last 15 seconds!

Random

Staying busy with basketball season and miscellaneous randomness.

Little Man #3!

LM's buddy "I"  scores!

Taekwondo!
Advanced to Yellow Belt/Green Stripe!

If you live in the Dallas, TX area, you have to go by Good-2-Go Taco for breakfast tacos or migas….and the best Lattes you have ever tasted.

The last time we went by they had a T-Shirt Truck parked out in the lot with this Yeti photo-op set up.  So Funny!  They sell kids and adult T's with original art work..including the Yeti.

Had to include a picture of Henry enjoying t.v. time with the family.  Although I'm sad to report that Henry - "The Former Lizard Slayer" has fallen off the no-kill wagon.  Just found a little green lizard dead on the back patio the other day.  I'm going to do some research and see if we can build them a house or something to protect them from the hound.

Zzzzzzzzz

Our next door neighbors have the cutest/sweetest little girls who invited LM over for a painting lesson.  The lady had them paint a landscape with oils!  Very advanced in my opinion for a 5, 6 and 7 yr old, but they turned out great and the kids were so proud of their work!

 Look what we did!

LM and his Valentines Box for his class party.

I kinda took over this one.  LM said he wanted Batman and I found this idea on Pinterest.  Its a detergent jug (body) and a Kleenex box (head), a black trash bag, some print outs and lots of tape.  Probably should have let him make it because I got "the look" when his teacher asked if he made it and he said, "Nope, my mom did!"  This is the same crazed creative psychosis I get during Halloween.  Hard to reel it in! :D

Its become a tradition of sorts that the Hubs and I take Little Man out on a Valentines Day date to PF Changs.  Well…really its was just that I always waited until the last minute to plan something and we couldn't find a sitter. :D

Had a great time with my 2 handsome dates!

Me and Little Man

The Hubs and LM.
Sushi!

Hanging out with the bunnies.

This PF Changes is in the Watters Creek shopping center just up the highway from our home.  Its a great place to eat, shop and walk around when the weather is nice!

Weather has been crazy confused here in TX.  Warm in the 70's one day and then BOOM! In the 40's the next.  The high tomorrow is 70 but then the forecast for Monday is a high of 36 with a chance of snow!

No wonder everyone seems to be getting sick this year!

The kids are dropping like flies at LM's school.  Flu, Strep Throat and a tummy bug here and there.  LM had the Flu in January and then a chest cold this month.  At my office there is a lot of coughing and sneezing, 2 confirmed cases of strep throat and pink eye!  I feel like I need to be "bubble girl" until May!  Or at least walk around wearing one of those surgical masks!

LM after getting is positive result for Type A Flu!

Arm yourself with some Vitamin D and C, hand sanitizer, Lysol, Clorox Wipes or your stay well weapon of choice!

Stay warm and well friends!

Thanksgiving & Christmas!

First up, Thanksgiving!

We spent the Thanksgiving holiday in Oklahoma with our parents / grand-parents, cousins, etc.  No pics of all of us stuffing our faces (thank goodness :)  ) but here are some random pics from the trip.

Little Man at the airport waiting for Uncle Jay to arrive!

Shooting the pellet gun at Grandma and Grandpa's!  So Cool!

Great Shot!

Shooting soda cans is fun!  :)

Waiting for The Penguins movie to start.

Post Movie.  Hanging with some of his cousins!
LM, "C", "R", "J", "J" and "C".

We had 2 of LM's cousins at our house for a sleepover!  Swapped babysitting weekends with my niece to cover both of our office Christmas Parties.
Win win!

Put those kids to work decorating the tree with shatter-proof ornaments…yay for free labor! Ha!

Me and the man at my office Christmas party.
So much fun!

Open bar, buffet, gaming tables and a raffle for things like
Microsoft Surface Pro, airfare tickets, tvs, washer / dryer, jewelry, etc.

Football!

Little Man was way overdue for a haircut so we took advantage of a later game time to run by the salon.

All smiles during the haircut!

Quick rinse before the hot towel treatment (requested by Dad).

Hot towel and a massage via the vibrating chair.

And introducing the Silver Division Champs for the
2014 Flag Football Season!!!  The Panthers!!!

 Team Pic.
LM back row, right end.

The last game was INCREDIBLE!!! We made some interceptions, long runs in for touchdowns, touchdown passes, diving catches and  flying bodies swatting down the opponents passes.  Better and more action packed than a college game!

LM being a goof. (left side of pic)

Receiving his silver trophy from Coach H.

Checking out the trophies with his buddies "L" and "B".

Next up, Basketball!  And celebrating Thanksgiving with family.  Can't wait!

Handsome Little Dude!

We're 2 weeks into November and the year is wrapping up fast!  Finally received Little Man's school pics (had to wait for make up day due to illness) AND his team picture for flag football!

The Panthers have made it into the playoffs!!!
So proud of all the boys on the team and the coaches!
Wonderful season!
(LM 2nd from right in the back row)

Our handsome 2nd Grader!
He looks like a little man compared to the little boy from last year!  :)

Looking forward to seeing all the family during the upcoming holidays!!!
