Last Day of Golf Lessons.

Today was the last day of Little Man's Tiny Tot's Golf Lessons. He seems to "get it"! The importance of the grip, maintaining balance and follow through. "Keep your hotdog in the bun", "Hands high, thumbs to the sky", "Your belly button should face the flag when you're done", "That back foot should be pointing down at the end of the swing". Yes, I was paying attention too!

Coach M was great with the kids and we will probably sign up again next summer. Just need to see if he wants to try the driving range with Daddy. :)

And the best part...picking up the balls in the tubes! :D

Hope everyone is having a great summer!

Underpants!

Yesterday we had a breakthrough! Little Man insisted on wearing underwear to school, while I cringed and hoped that his teachers didn't cuss me when he had an accident. I know, bad Mom, no faith in the kid. So I dropped him off, informed the teacher of the underpants and let her know that yes, we did have a stack of pull-ups and a backup pair of shorts in his backpack.

But when I picked him up that afternoon, Ms. S said, "Tell Mommy what you did today". And Little Man announced, "I wore my underwear all day!" And he did! Except for naptime of course, but THIS WAS HUGE! ((high 5's all around!))

He usually wears pull-ups to school but since our move, he's insisted on wearing underwear. Also wanted to know if Superheros wear underwear. I thought maybe they wore jock-straps but then you get that strap line with the spandex outfits being so tight and all so I was at a loss. So I did some online research and Superheros do wear underwear, just on the outside of their clothes! I know! What sense does THAT make?! Even Wonder Woman is confused! ((me shaking head)).

Also found a picture of the sensible Captain Underpants!
He knows whatsup!

Needless to say, The Husband was very proud of our Little Captain Underpants too. Let's hope this keeps the potty train going! :)

Full Recovery and Darth Bear!

Since Little Man is feeling much better (and we had some time to kill), we stopped by the mall. He loves visiting Build-a-Bear but I wasn't going to drop $60+ on a bear with outfit. Then he saw it! A Darth Vader Bear! Also had an Obi-Wan Kenobi outfit!

Little Man is really into Star Wars right now. Loves wearing his Star Wars - Clone Wars T-shirt and is always asking me to tell him the characters names. He already has a black bear named Sam (complete with outfit & convertible car) that his Grandma K, Aunt R and cousins made for him a couple of years ago so I figured all he needed was the outfit! They did have a Batman costume too but he said he wanted Darth Vader. So instead of spending an outrageous amount of money, we got an outfit for $15 - turning the existing bear into a whole new toy! Yeah!

Darth Bear with the super cool Light Saber!

Moving Sucks!

The Husband, Little Man and I moved over the weekend and I must say. MOVING SUCKS!!! We were not the happy box head couple you see in the pic! Little Man came down with a really bad intestinal virus Friday night so to get out of the house and avoid the extra stress (moverscoming Sat. morning), Little Man and I checked into a hotel. Let me tell you...nothing worse than being sick and wanting to be home and not having a home to go to...just yet anyway.

So, The Husband, Uncle J and the movers took care of everything at the house while I took care of Little Man. High fever for 5 days, throwing up, a trip to the minor emergency clinic, blood work then an ultrasound to check for appendicitis (negative), then more throwing up, SUPER congested, then a chest x-ray to check for pneumonia (negative), then diarrhea, then just fever. Poor little guy told us Sunday morning that he just wanted to go home so we took him to the new place. He was finally fever free on Wednesday and back to school on Thursday-he was very happy about that..missed his friends!

As of today, we're down to 2 boxes in the house (I won't mention the garage!) and finally starting to feel settled. Ahhhh. Also helps that I finally have internet service back up. :)

Future Golfer!

Little Man is taking "Tiny Tot Golf Lessons" through the Recreation Center once a week for the next 4 weeks. He really enjoyed his first lesson and learned about the different parts of the club and the different clubs you use! We were all really impressed by a 4 year old that kept lobbing the ball up in the air to the "hole". His mom said that "that's his thing, hitting balls in the backyard". The instructor explained technique so well that I think even I could play pretty well! :)
Bend your knees and keep the club down.

Straighten your arms & keep your nose pointed at the ball.

Fix your grip. Remember, your thumb is the hot dog, keep it in the bun.
And Swing!

Who knows! Maybe someday we'll see little man on T.V. winning the U.S. Open Championship in Pebble Beach! :D

Not obsessed!

I told myself I'd never blog about the Twilight series but I just couldn't resist!

If you haven't heard about the Twilight books / movies...you must be from another planet. :)

The Husband and I saw the first movie, Twilight, with a group of friends (husbands included!) the first month it was out. Had never heard about the books or anything. Well, I liked the movie so one of our female friends suggested that I go ahead and buy the box set of books - that I "would end up reading them all anyway". (husbands rollings their eyes at this point).

So I did!
Read all 4 book in 5 days. Thank goodness the husband was on a business trip which allowed for some overnight reading. :)
Loved the books more than the movie!
I highly suggest anyone getting into the movies to read the rest of the books before the last 2 movies come out - you'll appreciate having the back-story on all the characters.

I've always been an avid reader and like to see books brought to the big screen.

Recently we saw "The Lovely Bones" - based on the book by Alice Sebold. I read this about 4 years ago and really enjoyed it but had heard the movie wasn't as good. But it was!

Also read the "Nanny Diaries", a good book, but wasn't interested in seeing the movie because I'm not a big fan of Scarlett Johansson.

Bought "Where the Wild Things Are" for Little Man because he liked the book but I thought the movie was weird and a little to old, content wise for him.

Love Love the Harry Potter movie series! Little Man has seen all of them and I plan on buying the series of books for him for when he starts reading.

Also recommend the books by Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, For One More Day)- with a value size box of tissues. We've seen the movie adaptation of Tuesdays with Morrie and For One More Day....really good tear-jerkers!

But I'm not an obsessed Twilighter! I don't plan on going to opening night of the movie! I'm not getting tickets to the marathon showing of all 3 movies!
Although I did ask The Husband to grab a Twilight collectors cup with root-beer from Burger King for me last year...amazingly enough he did! :)

With the new movie, Eclipse, coming out next week, Little Man and I decided to stop by BK to see what "toys" they were offering with their value meals. He got the kids meal with the boys toy - Edward's wristband with the magically appearing Cullen Crest and I got the kids meal with the girls toy - Bella's bracelet with the charms from Jacob and Edward, which was quickly confiscated by Little Man.

It was funny, Little Man asked how the wristband changes him into a wolf and I had to explain that the wristband was Edward's and only Jacob could turn into a wolf in the movie. He looked disappointed. Obviously I have a 3 year old son who is Team Jacob. Probably because they look like giant dogs. :D

But no...I'm not obsessed....really, I'm not...

Sleeping with Buzz and Woody!

The Husband and I thought about buying Little Man a "Big Boy" bed (full size) but he told us that he wasn't ready and wanted to stay in his toddler bed. So...I thought he should have a decent bedding set. Up til now he's only had a small pillow and a blanket that he usually rolls out from under while sleeping.

During a recent shopping trip to Target I found some toddler bedding sets! And everything was on sale! Even better! They had some with trucks, some with robots but when I saw the Toy Story set, it was a no brainer. We know it's something he'll outgrow soon but he loves it and we can always get him something more grown up when we finally get that Big Boy bed.

It's so cute the way he sits on his bed and pretends that Buzz and Woody are having a conversation with Pooh, Big Tigger, Llama and Puppy. :)
