You DID NOT just do that!!!

Today after church, The Husband and I took Little Man out for lunch at one of our usual spots. We sat in our booth, being entertained by the boy, waiting for our pager to go off when I decided to let him hold the pager. WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?!?! Little Man raised the pager to his face and proceeded to lick it! (((((queasy feeling in the pit of the stomach))) I thought The Husband was going to flip out! He looked at me with his hand out....for something....and I said, "We can't squirt hand sanitizer in his mouth!" The Husband urged him to drink lots of water....like that was going to help! =D
So we just sat there with helpless expressions on our faces.....like we were waiting for Little Man to suddenly become violently ill, like he had been poisoned or something and there was nothing we could do about it. We're not huge germaphobes but to me that's just "you have lost your mind" kind of gross!
Think I'll Google "Oral Sanitizers for kids". Never know what the kid is going to stick in his mouth and we need to be prepared!

*** FYI - the only thing that comes up on Google is Toothbrushes and Toothbrush Sanitizers. Guess we'll just have to pack an extra toothbrush in his backpack from now on. (((shaking head)))
The Germ

A mighty creature is the germ,
Though smaller than the pachyderm.
His customary dwelling place
Is deep within the human race.
His childish pride he often pleases
By giving people strange diseases.
Do you, my poppet, feel infirm?
You probably contain a germ.

S.A.D or just Blah.......

I've been feeling a little "blah" this week. Not sure if I'm just tired of all the cold weather or what so I decided to look up Season Affective Disorder online and this is what I found.

Symptoms of SAD may consist of: difficulty waking up in the morning, tendency to oversleep as well as to overeat, and especially a craving for carbohydrates, which leads to weight gain. Other symptoms include a lack of energy, difficulty concentrating on completing tasks, and withdrawal from friends, family, and social activities. All of this leads to the depression, pessimism, and lack of pleasure which characterize a person suffering from this disorder.

Difficulty waking up in the morning?...(((Yawn))) CHECK!

Tendency to oversleep?...not with a toddler that wakes up at 6 a.m.

Overeating?...depends on the day

Craves carbohydrates?...depends on the week (ladies you know what I'm sayin').

Lack of energy?...kinda, but working out 6 days a week can wear you out!

Difficulty concentrating on completing tasks?...uh, yeah, I think the stuff in the washing machine has been in there a couple of days so I better wash it again. (((cringe)))

Withdrawal from friends?...maybe, in loner mode this week I guess.

I'm not depressed, can be pessimistic at times but as far as a lack of pleasure in things...not quite there yet. Guess I just have the "blahs". But when I looked up the blahs, it suggested that I was depressed! I think it's normal to have an "off day" although mine seems to be an "off week".

I'm going to go with the treatment for SAD, one of which is sunlight. And because we're having a gray day here in TX, I've had to improvise!

So if your feeling a little "blah" too, put on your sunglasses, kick back in your flip flops, have a fruity girlie drink handy and soak up a little sunshine with me. =D

Ahhhh....where's my cabana boy? I need a refill! :)

Crash and Burn!

Yes....the New Years Resolution List has been a bust!

I'm still going to Starbucks (only drinking Decaf though!), I haven't read my phone or camera manuals and I missed sending a Birthday card the first week of January!
However!
I have been exercising on a regular basis (Body Pump class is AWESOME!), I've been cooking dinner for the family and we're still planning on taking a family trip this summer. I've been reading the paper almost everyday too!

(pat, pat, pat <-----patting self on back).

How is your To Do list going? :)

2 Year Old Pick Up Lines.....

A couple of times a month, Little Man and I drive a classmate home after school. We enjoy the giggling, screaming and singing. Pretty hilarious!

Yesterday, The Husband happened to be with us and this is the conversation we hear coming from the back seat......

Little Man: You coming to my house?
Friend: No, I go to my house.
Little Man: I have toys in my playroom.
Friend: ((((crickets chirping)))
Little Man: I have bubble bath, you wanna bubble bath?
Friend: ((((crickets chirping)))
Little Man: I have foamy soap.
Friend: No, I go home to my house.
Little Man: (((pause)))
Little Man: You not go to my house anymore.

The Husband and I were snickering to ourselves.....hearing our son being shot down by a girl. So funny! But he got over it.

So much to look forward to in the teenage years! ((((groan))))

Wii Play as a Family

We finally jumped into the Wii wave sweeping the world. Well, we've actually had the thing....in a box....in a drawer for at least 6 months and finally hooked it up today. The Husband and Little Man have been enjoying boxing, golf, bowling, tennis and baseball. I'm looking forward to the Wii Fit programs like kickboxing, etc., if they'll ever let me on the thing!
Here are some pics:

Little Man cheering after a successful swing!

And this is me!
Ha! Did you think I'd really post a picture of myself?!

New Year / New Me

2009 has come and gone and I'm relieved.

The cocoon symbolizes a new beginning for me. The last year was really rough! Both of my cats had to be put to sleep-one the week I turned 40 and the other the week my favorite Aunt died and other personal things. Enough! I know , "That's Life" and the more years that pass and the older I get the more loved ones we'll lose and heartache we'll experience......but I'd like to take a break for this year.

This year I'm going to focus on getting in the best shape I can, visiting family more often, getting more involved with school committees and local groups of interest. Thought about signing Little Man and I up for the Mommy and Me Spanish class I heard about! Some really positive things are happening for The Husband as well! I really feel that this is going to be the best year for our family since Little Man was born!

2010

I borrowed your picture Mrs. Short - Thanks! =D

It's New Years Eve and I've been thinking about the resolutions I'd like to make (and keep) for 2010. I'm really not one to make resolutions but my friends have all been talking about theirs so I thought I'd join in. The Husband likes to do a "Family Plan" every January 1st which includes personal, financial and social goals for the year. Yes, this includes his goals for me and Little Man as well as himself. He's a giver he is! =D

Here's a list that I've thrown together:

1. Go to the health club at least 4 days a week.....and going to the Spa at the club DOES NOT count as working out. =D

2. Stop going to Starbucks and start having green tea at home. Um...we'll see how long this lasts!

3. Read the newspaper everyday. I read the MSN.Com homepage everyday but that doesn't really count. We get the USA Today and the local community paper so I don't have an excuse not to stay up on current events.

4. Finally read the manual to my camera and cell phone so I know how to work the darn things! Have to get past using the AUTO and Default settings.

5. Make sure to mail a Birthday card to everyone this year. Emailing an eCard the day of the birthday because I forgot to get one in the mail is just lazy.

6. Cook dinner for the family. I do, well, I try, well, I REALLY DO try, just not on a regular basis. It goes in spurts. I'm a spurt cooker. Well, that just sounds weird and kinda gross but you get my point. Goal: No cooking chicken 4 nights out of 7. You can only do chicken so many ways. May actually try to cook fish and pray that the house doesn't end up smelling like a Seattle fish market!

7. Take a trip as a family. We go back home for some holidays and some birthdays every year but the Husband, Little Man and I haven't taken a family trip....just the 3 of us. Well, this is really isn't a resolution....just a goal.

This is all I have so far!

Hope you're successful at keeping any resolutions you decide to make!

A Merry Christmas was had by all!

During our 8 hour road-trip home for the holidays, Little Man treated us to his vocal stylings of a Jingle Bells/Old MacDonald music mix.

Christmas Past..

I was flipping around on the ipooter, looking at old holiday photos and thought I'd post some of Little Man from Christmas past.

Baby's First Christmas
8 Months Old - 2007
HOW CUTE IS THIS?!

Found the Santa suit at Babies-R-Us...the best place to find fun holiday outfits for your baby. You know the ones..the outfits that you see & laugh out loud, but you buy it anyway, take it home and dress up the kid while they squirm but they can't really protest because they can't talk yet, and then the husband gets home and shakes his head, mentally thinking "poor kid" but then laughs himself and agrees with you that the child IS the most adorable thing on the planet. Yeh, those outfits!

1 year 8 months - 2008
First of many "Dapper Little Man" outfits.

I'm all for cute baby blue clothes and such for babies but once the kid can walk, I'm a firm believer that they can be stylish! Only if it's machine washable of course because I'm not crazy!

2 years 8 months - 2009
Sporting a tie and hat this year!

Little Man has ALWAYS liked to wear hats. Guess that comes from getting him started early with ball caps and bucket hats around 3 months of age. I bought this outfit while Little Man was in school hoping that he would like it so I wouldn't have to return it...but he liked it! Actually, he wanted to hang out around the house wearing only the hat, tie and a diaper. He's such a fashion risk-taker. =D

All I Want for Christmas....

The Husband and I took Little Man by the mall to see Santa Claus last week. We've been lucky, he's never cried or screamed when he sees the big guy so we always get a good picture. This year Little Man took his green super bouncy ball to show Santa and told him that he wanted Transformers for Christmas. Now Little Man didn't even know what they were until he saw the toys at his cousins house. Then The Husband thought it would be a great idea for him to see Transformers 2 (because he still needed to see it). Hmmm. Not so much. A lot of heavy editing involved. But even after watching Megan Fox's award winning performance (**cough** she sucks **cough** **cough**) he still wants the toys. =D Merry Christmas!

It's Beginning to Feel a lot like Christmas!

Little Man's first snow! Here is south Texas, it only snows one day out of the year...if that. Last year it snowed at night while Little Man was sleeping and the year before that it snowed while we were out of town! Being from Oklahoma, we're used to getting a GOOD snowfall. The kind that gets you a snow day from school so you can go sledding and make snow angels and snowmen! Since moving down here 5 years ago, the holidays just haven't been the same. This year we have had a nice changing of the leaves and the snow we got today brought some much needed holiday spirit! We also took Little Man to get his picture taken with Santa! (pics to be posted soon).

Ahhhh!
