Potty Progress!

I've been getting worried lately that Jaden might take longer than expected to potty train.  We bought the "Once Upon a Potty" book and companion DVD and although Jaden likes to sing along with the video and read the book, he hasn't really shown any interest in using the potty.  Well, today we hosted Jaden's playgroup at our house and the girls, and 1 boy, used the big potty.  And of course all the moms started talking about when they started the training, where the kids were in the process, how many "accidents" to expect, etc.
I guess Jaden was listening because after lunch he said "Poo Poo" and I thought he meant he had a dirty diaper...he didn't!  He wanted to use the big boy potty!  So I sat him on the seat and he says to me, "shut the door".  I managed not to laugh and pulled the door almost shut but left it cracked open so I could make sure he didn't fall in.   He hung out for a couple of minutes and then SUCCESS!  He went #1 & #2!  Yeah!  He high-fived me then looked in and said, "yucky!"  I said he could flush and then we washed our hands together.  I'm so proud of him!
I obviously didn't take pictures of the momentous event, but wanted to share the excitement with you all!  =]

What was that!

The other day I had the bright idea of trying to take Jaden to Cafe Express for lunch.  I was craving a veggie burger!  We were barely out of our neighborhood when Jaden started asking for pretzel fish.  I tried to explain (as much as you can to a two year old) that he needed to wait because we were going to eat lunch.  Of course he didn't understand and started yelling, Pretzel Fish!, Pretzel Fish!, Pretzel Fish!  I was trying to concentrate on driving so I didn't acknowledge his tantrum and suddenly I heard-in a deep, possessed, Linda Blair from the exorcist kind of voice, "I want Pretzel Fish now!  I looked in the rear view mirror expecting to see his little green head spinning around on his shoulders!  =]  Needless to say I made a bee-line for the Chick-fil-A drive thru so I could just grab something for us both and head home.  Sure enough, when he saw J.J. (yes, we know the drive thru lady by her first name), he turned on the charm!  The shy smile and a wave.  The shirt didn't hurt either!  She gave him a hat and said, "he's so sweet!"  I HAVE TO start taping his tantrums so people will know the truth!  =D

The mischievous look!

I'm going to sit in Mama's seat!

Gotta love 'em!

Officer Jaden

Jaden found the police officer accessories that were leftover from putting together his Sheriffs outfit for Go Texan Day.  We used the handcuffs for his Sheriffs costume but had sunglasses, a badge, a whistle, a walkie-talkie, a watch and a billy club leftover from the set.  You can understand why we didn't let him have the billy club  =]  but he loves sunglasses!  We gave him the walkie-talkie (which he broke in 2 seconds flat), the badge, watch and whistle to play with too.  I bet his Uncle Eric (cop in Wichita) doesn't look this cool!  =]

Famous?

Remember how Jaden dressed up as a little cowboy for Go Texan Day?  Well, the picture that was taken of the two of us did end up in The Woodlands Lifestyles & Homes magazine!  Pretty Neat!  We are the tiny little picture on the bottom right corner of the page.  Our names were listed on the next page.

I wish he could have smiled for the camera!  He was so set on doing his Clint Eastwood impression that day!  Guess the boots gave him a little attitude.  =]

Birthday Boy

When I picked Jaden up from school today, I found that he had been crowned, "Birthday Boy"!  It was so nice of his teachers to make him something special for his birthday.

Happy Birthday J!

Little Man will be two years old tomorrow and we can't believe it! The time had gone by so fast and he's getting to be such a big boy. His Birthday Party was great! The weather was perfect and the kids had a great time! We had family, our friends from down in Houston, our Wednesday playgroup friends, our Mother's Day Out friends and some of our neighborhood friends. He was so excited to see everyone! Here are some pictures from the day.

Jaden's Birthday Party is Tomorrow!

Who knew that planning a birthday party for a two year old could be so stressful!  =]  Just kidding....sort of!  I just want everything to be perfect!
We'll have 22 kids under the age of five and 5 kids over the age of six!  Jaden really enjoys Birthday parties and likes to sing "Happy to You" (his version of Happy Birthday to You) so I really wanted to do it up right.  It's at a local park that is very "toddler friendly" and we'll have lots of food, Birthday Cake, cupcakes, a face painter, a balloon artist, a bubble machine and the playground to keep the kids entertained.

Here's what has stressed me:

1.  The party is outside, in April...which has the highest rainfall of the year!  But we got lucky!  The weather is supposed to be great!

2.  Nobody wanted to do a Little Einstein cake!  If it wasn't in "the book", they didn't want to bother with it.  So I went to the Disney Store and bought the Little Einstein figurines grabbed one of the party napkins and talked the good people at Kroger's (Gosling & Research) into doing it.  Let's hope it turns out cute!

3.  The Parks Department screwed up our reservation time!  We were supposed to have the pavilion and playground from 10 am to 12 pm  but they scheduled a party right behind us a 12 pm!  So now we have to clear out by 11:30 am!

You know I'll have photos and video of the event so I'll post as soon as I can!

Mommy & Me Day at School

Today Jaden's school had their Mommy & Me Day!  The kids were so excited to decorate cupcakes with their moms and then eat them.  I was excited that the icing didn't end up in his hair and all over his clothes!  Jaden loves sprinkles so I had to keep a tight grip on the bottle or we would have had a little bit of cupcake with a TON of orange sprinkles.  =D

Chocolate!
How did my kid get icing on his forehead!  =D

Jaden's teachers are always telling me how much he enjoys seeing the baby brothers and sisters of his classmates.
Let's hope this doesn't change if he ends up with a sibling. =]

The men in my family are HOT! =D (video)

I think everyone knows that I enjoy playing with the photos that I take and I LOVE the Jib Jab website where you can put your loved ones faces in different videos.  I received an email from the site that they had some new videos and I had some free time.  =]  The pics were uploaded in random order so if someone seems to be stealing the spotlight (Jon) than that was just by accident.  =D  Hope I don't embarrass anyone!  It was all in fun!  Enjoy!
