John is taking me on a "date" tomorrow to celebrate!  Yeah!

Mother's Day / Family Reunion

During our trip to Tulsa we celebrated Mother's Day at Grandma & Grandpa Yates' (John's Grandparents) house with breakfast and group photos with a professional photographer.

Tulsa Trip

This weekend was crazy busy!  We flew to Tulsa for John's sister's College Graduation / After Party (Congrats Renee!) and Mother's Day.  I usually take an insane amount of pictures but I was so caught up in visiting with family and relaxing that I hardly took any!  So here are a few that I did take from the trip.  If any of our family members read this.....send me pics so I can post them on this blog!  Thanks!

Self Feeding

Today I tried to let Jaden "self-feed" at lunch.  I loaded up the spoon and handed it to him (he doesn't quite have the scoop and lift action down yet) and he actually got it to his mouth......but then he flipped the spoon over instead of sticking the spoon in his mouth right side up.  Got a little messy but he had fun!

Little Man's Fave's

My friend C posted her son H's favorite things and I thought it was such a great idea that I'm posting Little Man's.

Little Man's Fave's:

1. Pushing his "My Friends Tigger & Pooh Super Sleuth Mobile" around his room. He's not so wild about actually riding on it. Just likes pushing the buttons and going back and forth across his room. Oh, and he dances when the Winnie the Pooh theme song plays.

2. Sitting in his Dump Truck while mommy pushes him around the room. Complete with sounds effects!

3. Little Man LOVES to read his books. He's finally quit trying to eat them!

4. And his brand new favorite thing! His Radio Flyer Scoot About!

Curls!

The Houston humidity has set in and something crazy is going on with Jaden's hair!

                      

      

Check out the curls!  John & I both have naturally wavy hair but this kid has ringlets!  So sweet, but not very boyish I guess.  Several times he's been mistaken for a girl!  Guess the people were so overwhelmed by how cute he is that they didn't notice the blue shirt he was wearing at the time, his sports themed baby blanket, the blue sippy cup, the blue place mat and the blue bib??? Hhhmmm.  

Oh,  here is a better picture of the house we're building.  The drywall is finished, the doors are in and the walls are textured.  Next week is interior paint, tile floors, etc.

 

TGIF!

After telling my friends how putting Jaden to bed was getting easier, he started skipping his afternoon naps! Which in turn caused him to wake up at 2 am for the last 3 mornings and stay awake for about and hour and a half!

But this morning we set a new record! This morning was 2:30 am to 5:00 am! I had the 2:30 to 4:30 shift then John came in looking for me! Didn't have to tell me twice to go to bed! Jaden has been a regular cranky britches this week because of lack of sleep and teething! Today was better though. He had a Dr. appt this morning to check on a bug bite that was getting a little scary, so he didn't get a morning nap. He passed out when we got home around 1:00 and slept for an hour and a half....this is great after only napping for 45 minutes total on Wednesday! But at bedtime I was able to put him in his crib sleepy but awake and he soothed himself to sleep! He kept peeking at me to make sure I was still standing next to his crib but finally gave in to sleep. What a breakthrough! He's never done this! Maybe it was the 1/8 tsp of Benadryl (less than the recommended dose mind you) I gave him at dinner for his bite??? Nah! It was my most awesome parenting skills! Yeah....that's it!

My friends all tell me that their kids nap times are all screwed up too! Just a "transitional" phase they go through at 1 year. Well....Mr. Man has been testing the limits with John & I...seeing what he can get away with and how far he can push us before getting a time out. But it's hard to get frustrated with him! Look how cute he is! I think he uses this to his advantage.

Our house in the Woodlands is coming along quickly. Sheet rock is going up inside and the rooms are taking shape! Can't wait!

Belated Easter Pics!

On Good Friday we drove up to The Woodlands to take pictures of Little Man in the Bluebonnets! So pretty! He kept looking at the bees buzzing around while The Husband stood close by to make sure he didn't get stung!

Saturday we went to the Houston Zoo to have Breakfast with the Easter Bunny! Little Man was pretty sleepy by the time this picture was taken so he looks a little out of it....plus the rabbit was pretty creepy looking! What's up with the eyelashes?!

After breakfast he perked up a little bit! Mmmmm. French toast! Nice sugar rush!

They brought out a giant rabbit named Trixie for the children to pet. The handler had to explain to the kids that they could only pet her on her back because she might mistake their fingers for carrots.....NICE! But Little Man thought she was pretty cool!

We also decided to go by Memorial Park to take pictures in their wildflower plot. I think Little Man was getting pretty tired ...not much of a smiley boy by then! But the pictures turned out great! Good job Husband!

Happy 1st Birthday Little Man!

Last weekend was Little Man's 1st birthday!

We celebrated at Gymboree Play & Music (Jaden's favorite place!) with family and friends. I found this super cute birthday hat that has #'s 1 through 5 so we can use it until Little Man is 5 and then start embarrassing him all over again when he's 12, 13, 14 & 15! The Husbnad didn't think this was quite as funny as I did.

Grandma M (The Husband's mom) was able to fly in from Okla for his party! His Great Aunt K & Great Uncle L drove in from Dallas, Great Aunt P drove in from Longview, Uncle J, Aunt J and his 3 cousins down from The Woodlands and several of Little Man's friends enjoyed the party with us! He was very excited to see everyone!

We also checked on the progress of our house that we're building in The Woodlands. Everything is coming along great! We're very excited and look forward to moving in July!

OK! So I haven't kept this blog up to date! Apologies!

Little Man is on the verge of walking! Well, he's standing by himself for a few seconds at a time and walks with his little push toy....but it's going to happen any day! The Husband says he should have been walking at 9 months (like him) but I'm giving him until 14 months (like me!). No pressure though!
